Monday July 25

 

10 am to 2 pm

Keweenaw Gem and Gift Open House and Surplus Inventory Sale

(at their business on Razorback Drive, Houghton)

 

Tuesday July 26

 

9 am to 5 pm

Museum Open House and Gift Shop Merchandise Sale

15 % discount - Museum gift shop ONLY on this day!  Registered participants.  

 

Tours begin top of the hour - 10 am, 11 am, 1 pm, 2 pm

Museum Collection Management Tours

- limted space available, first come first serve

Learn about collection management and see behind the scenes from Associate Curator Dr. Chris Stefano. Registered participants. 

 

4 pm to 5 pm      

Presentation at A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum (in adjacent ATDC conference room)

Overview of Keweenaw Peninsula native copper deposits by museum executive director and professor Dr. Ted Bornhorst. Registered participants.

 

Wednesday July 27

 

 

10 am to 3 pm (5 hours of collecting)

Prepared surface mineral collecting at Seneca Mine.

 

 

Thursday July 28

 

10 am to 3 pm (5 hours of collecting)

Prepared surface mineral collecting at Wolverine Mine.

 

5 pm to 8 pm

Surplus Inventory Sale by A. E. Seaman Mineral Museum

Registered KMD participants get 15 % discount.

No regular gift shop merchandise sales but museum is open for participants.

 

Friday July 29

 

10 am to 3 pm (5 hours of collecting)

Prepared Surface Mineral Collecting at Central Mine

 

 

Saturday July 30

 

10 am to 3 pm (5 hours of collecting)

Prepared Surface Mineral Collecting at Cliff Mine            

Legal collecting events are provided by Keweenaw Mineral Days. Please do not trespass and illegally collect minerals.

All events have minimum number of participants to make them viable and thus, any and all events can be cancelled.

The events listed are subject to change. Any person not adhering to safe collecting practices can be banned from participation.
